Blue Nile gorge, Debrelibanos Monastery (1 Day Trip)

Following the Northern historic route, the road heads to one of the 13th Century medieval monastery of Debre Libanos at 118 kilometers form Addis Ababa. The church is an active worshiping center of Ethiopian orthodox laities accommodating number of nuns and monks who have a life of neutral from the secular world. Visit the Portuguese Bridge built in the 16th CAD and some endemic Gelada Baboons at the cleavage of Jemma valley. Proceed to the great Blue Nile River gorge, which is as much bigger, wider and dipper as the grand canyon of America by crossing the fertile Sallie plain then drive downward to the river basin which is about 1000 meters deep. Finally a picnic lunch, drive back to Addis Ababa.
